Better yet, buy them in the field. Oh wait, the CIA already does that to support their operations.

Buy poppy from the farmers at better than market, then sell it for the production of some of the best painkillers available. Take a evidence-based look at our “war on drugs”, and decide if there isn’t a better way of dealing with it on the demand end.

Actually baslim…the anti-American factions have already been doing that on selective basis–to shore up the price of their stashes, not for morality (of which, given their genesis, they are devoid except for pretence).

For MikeBx–wanna best way to put drug trade of PakAf (“Golden Crescent”) and Golden Triangle out of business? Buy 300% of licit annual requirements from Indian farmers (opium is produced in several districts of India–especially in some districts of MP and Northeastern states–much more than adequate to meet cent-percent of the defined licit opium demand). BTW, this option has been lonnnnnnnnnng available!

Thay have been. But it is like spraying Roundup in the US for kudzu. There isn’t enough napalm or Roundup to make even the smallest of dents in the crop.

Baslim: I am beginning to get the feeling that EVERYTHING only fuels support for anti-American factions.

Are those poppies in the field for illegal drugs or making medicines for painkiller???

Well Wildmustang1262–those grown in NWFP/FATA/Afghanistan are cent-percent for illicit usage! Two countries–India and Thailand–supply cent-percent of the world’s licit demand for opium (morphine), though either one can (and both do) produce considerably more (though together less than NWFP/FATA).

Is that Duke in the cowboy hat trying to drum up some business? Isn’t it a bit dangerous putting that guy so close to so much raw opium?

No, if it were Duke, he’d be smoking a cigarette.

Now that you mention it, could Havoc be Duke’s long lost brother? The resemblance is uncanny.

This can’t be happening under an Obama administration, can it?
