Rick: Thanks... Mark: Rick! Rick: Oh, hey, Mark - what's up? Mark: Not much. How's your kid doing in Afghanistan? Rick: You mean Jeff? Mark: You got some other kid I don't know about? Of course Jeff! Rick: Um... he's made an impact. Mark: Oh, right, classified. But I can see the pride!

@Josh
I think Mark is more like Randi Rhodes, Mike Malloy, Sam Seder, Ron Reagan or Rachel Maddow (before she went to TV) than the guys you listed.

It would be nice to think that Mark is sharp enough that his comment is actually sarcastic, or intentional in order to draw out more information, but neither of those explanations is very likely.

Well how do we put a positive spin on it.? Jeff’s enthusiastic in his job and he’s been mentioned on TV.

@JAD, I thought Mark and his partner broke up? But I never did know why. I think it was for some unreasonable reason.

Rina, I think it was the politics. Mark/Chase were like a gay Matlin/Carville.
Carville/Matlin are still preserving the sanctity of marriage, though.

What does being gay have to do with the price of tea in China? I don’t think it was mentioned in the strip, was it? Not that I give a hoot, but c’mon…

I can see Rick’s having a touch of a dilemma, here. He’d like to talk about it, maybe report on a scoop, but 1) he probably shouldn’t even know what he does know; 2) he’d be reporting on his own son’s smeg-up; 3) the way he found out about the oopsy probably violates the journalists’ code of ethics.
