B.D.: Hmm... better top off my leg. Boopsie: You marching in the parade tomorrow? B.D.: I guess so... it's a bit demoralizing. Memorial Day is for remembering, but no one wants to be reminded we're still at war. People are respectful, and whatnot, but most of them can't really relate to us. There's still this huge disconnect between us and the people we serve. Zipper: That's so true, coach... none of my friends at school can believe I know a wounded Iraq War vet. They think it's mad edgy. B.D.: Edgy? Zipper: Yeah. It's like I personally know a pirate, or a cyborg.
“A well-regulated militia, composed of the body of the people, trained to arms, is the proper, natural, and safe defense of a free state; that standing [ i.e. professional ] armies, in time of peace, should be avoided as dangerous to liberty; and that, in all cases, the military should be under strict subordination to, and be governed by, the civil power.”
