Postmaster: Sorry, Mel. Nothin' today. Melissa: Sigh... guess I better take the initiative... Hi, Justin. It's me. Voice: Mel! What's going on? Melissa: Just checking in. Hadn't heard from anyone in a while... Voice: Oh, hey, my bad, sis - I've just been jammed... the kids all got the flu, and I had to stay home from work... plus both Chris and Allie are playing hockey, so we've been spending every weekend on the road. Melissa: Sounds crazy. Voice: yeah, it has been. So where you calling from? Melissa: Afghanistan. Voice: Oh, right, right... wait, we're still there?
My husband used to lecture us on the evils of the ever-expanding economy we depended upon, saying it would never be able to keep going, and what would happen afterward: we’ll be wandering in the desert for a few more years, and frankly I’d rather stay on the horse that we are on in the middle of this stream than switch right now. He isn’t perfect, but I do believe that Obama has the best interests of the country at heart and is trying to overcome some strange times in politics to get us there. I will like to see what he can do in the next term, when he has the ‘political mandate of the people’ as Geo WB was fond of saying. Make sure to vote people, because change for change’s sake is not what we need right now; what we need is accountability.
