AKHenderson…. no, THIS one will be strong in Jon Arbuckle…who didn’t appear till about 8 years after Mike Doonesbury hit the scene.

If they stick with this era, soon we’ll see the colorful introduction of Zonker.

I really do hope they run the entire thing from the beginning. I only started reading in the 80s and then I deployed overseas where I didn’t read it again for some time, so it’ll be interesting to read it all!

So, let me get this straight: No more new Doonesbury, just reruns from the beginning?.Also, whatever happened to Zonker moving to Colorado to capitalize on then legal MMJ, now just plain legal anything MJ? I think there were four dailies wrapped up in that, then the storyline seems to have been forgotten!

And so, in 1970, Garry Trudeau predicted today’s “100+ Varieties” Coca-Cola fountain machines. Truly prescient.

Well, than goodness! Finally, maybe the whinerswill stop complaining about ‘reruns.’ I haven’t taken a count, but I think the majority of them are getting a free ride anyway.

It remains to be seen as to whether we will see the topical strips of the 70"s. Honey, Duke’s companion, was from Vietnam, as was Kim Rosenthal, the Jewish-raised last orphan from Vietnam and Mike’s current wife. Rev. Sloan was a major political guy from the strip as well, a radical guy against the war. Once Watergate came along, we started seeing pics of the White House. This was all great stuff.

I doubt too many people care for ancient carp, but I hear nuoc mam is highly popular. (Fermented fish sauce in VN)

My newspaper didn’t have the strip for the first several years, so I’m delighted to be able to see these early strips! But it’s also fine if they show more recent ones, just so I get my Doonesbury for the day.

… and the color very much helps this particular strip. In B&W, it looks like Mike is as bare-legged as his date, but his coat doesn’t cover as much as her dress. My newspaper publishes the dailies in B&W — imagine panel three with Mike’s legs the same shade as his date’s legs…. why, it’s downright scandalous!
