Joanie: Ginny, you know what Ellie just asked me? Dear, sweet, little Ellie? She just me if Andy loves me? I had to say I didn't know. I mean, he's never told me how he feels! Doesn't that strike you as a bit strange?! Ginny: Have you ever asked him? Joanie: No, of course not! But don't you see? He should have told me by now! There's something wrong, Ginny, something terribly wrong! I'll bet he's married! Clyde: What's happenin'?! What's wrong?! Joanie: Andy's married! Ginny: Joanie, just ask him!

Right now as we sit reading this comic, heterosexual women are being slaughtered in certain countries because the families of the husbands they were sold to didn’t think the family paid a large enough dowry, or because they were raped with no witnesses so they ‘shamed’ their families. Or because they married someone other than the person their family had decided to sell them to….

I agree. But as a fomer renter, it has been my experience that eventually there is an interest to “rent to own”. This happens when the poor slob realizes that she DOESN’T want to marry him. She’s just waiting for something better to come along……and, if she is good looking (smile) it ALWAYS DOES. Love it.

does anyone still do an “air dial” to try to remember a phone number?.Joanie is still in 1950’s mode, despite the leaving the stuffed shirt, living in a commune, and starting classes at law school. Women didn’t really ask the guys – they expected the guys to do the telling first. And it is also a “preserving the male ego” thing. … I can’t recall, but I think Joanie gets things figured out.
