Cop: His bail's been set at $500, ma'am. Lacey: You will accept a personal check, won't you? Cop: I'm sorry, ma'am, we can only take cash. Lacey: How about collateral, then? I'll leave this diamond brooch with you until I can have the cash wired. Cop: Uh... ma'am, I don't think that's acceptable as... Lacey: Acceptable! Dear man, this brooch was given to my mother by the Duchess of Kent! Cop: No, I mean... Lacey: Mother always took it with her travelling in case the local currency collapsed.

Since the airlines only allow bags up to 50 pounds now, I can barely pack enough gold bars to make it through a vacation.

Always funny to see rich people confronted with the justice system. It’s a “pay or you go” system Lacy, cash only.

He didn’t say all 50 lbs would be gold bars. I’m sure he needs to pack a few other items…

I wonder how many of you remember ‘barter bracelets’ ?Gold heavy linked bracelets that had easily removable links to be used as payment in emergency situations,This was when gold was about $39 an ounce but went a long way !Those bracelets had many other names – depending on who you were working for.

It is hard to keep up with what was around and what was not in the 80’s and 90’s. There were certain things which were not as available as they are now and not as convenient in other ways too as many things have been far improved. They say the digital revolution is still in its infancy even now. We have had certain items around house since the mid 90’s and we really need to update. For example, we don’t have a digital thermostat and that mercury thermostat looks way out of date…

Wait a minute…. if there’s bail, there’s a charge. What’s he charged with? We never heard.

Tried to change some money in Roswell NM circa 1970 — the bank had to phone head office to find out the exchange rate on Canadian dollars.

I thought there had to be a criminal charge before bail could be set. So, what is he being charged with?

What makes you want to be for the Mets rather than Yankees? Is it just about being closer to a certain stadium? I grew up knowing Yogi Berra’s nephew, BTW. They claim Yogi in St Louis too.

Actually, the Best way to get pulled over on “Suspician” fo being a Drug Courier in Florida is to be Young, Male and driving a Late Model luxury Rental Car late at night and be Observing the Speed Limit..Also being Black was almost Guaranteed to get you pulled over for being “Too Law Abiding”.. That WAS the Profile various Police Agencies in Florida used until they got told that Profiling was Unconstitutional. Now, they have to find some Additional “Band Aid” to slap onto the initial excuse. .

I told him gold bars weren’t the only things which would be needed, but someone else said all that would provided for if he had the gold bars.
