As I recall, the old guy overreached. He had a plan for gobbling up a vulnerable firm, and when he tried to get financing to execute his plan, the guy he presented it to decided to do the deed himself, so Slackmeyer was out of a job. That was the predatory 80s, or maybe early 90s. I’d almost forgotten that Mark’s hair wasn’t always white.

Remember? all you needed materially was a phone, a mattress to crash on, and four lines a day…and you could MAKE it.

I had trouble getting online yesterday. GT is having some fun with the combover of a certain candidate and the floppy issues.

Bad enough that Madoff ruined individual investors. He also bankrupted Elie Wiesel’s foundation for Holocaust survivors. Thank you, deregulators.
