I really miss the old days when Mike,Zonker and the others were going to Walden and they lived in the Commune . But this summer day dream is also very good. I really hope that I don’t get destroyed for this comment. Cheers
I have held a number of high tech jobs but only recently have I been able to more than aspire to the middle class. I started receiving spousal Social Security benefits, which supplement my income. The lesson: study hard, work hard and live to be older than 66. The American Dream?
I recall in the 1970s someone remarking that you couldn’t call yourself successful if you weren’t “earning your age” [in thousands of dollars per year]. Given inflation, it’s probably about five times your age now.
Isn’t the median family wage around 65K in the US. That should be the center of middle class income. US cencus for 2019 was $65,721. Much lower in 2020 becase so many people lost their jobs.
Once upon a time, Micro$oft was in the habit of paying a lot of their employees in Stock Options. Options which they had to wait a Year of more to access.
They had employees who were Paper Millionaires who had to Borrow money from the Bank to Live on while they waited for the Stock Options to pay off.

Was a time when I thought if I ever made 10k a year, I would have it made. ’Course, that was the 1950s.

I’ve known plenty of people with lots of money but no class, upper-middle or otherwise

Now, it’s the LOWER middle class. With a kid or two in college. it’s solidly middle class.

The 300 Gs was Mike’s fantasy, not a solid offer.
Evidently, the salary is lower, but the options are nice!
