Too many years ago, I brought a plant home for the summer which I had started in college (haven’t indulged for many years also). Mom thought it was very pretty and kept it watered for me. Alas, it never did grow too large nor flower.
Puh-leez…marijuana legalization was never about ANYthing other than govt’s getting a piece of the pie. MONEY has always mattered more than the will of the people, right and wrong, or any other issue.OR HASN’T THE CURRENT STATE OF POLITICS DEMONSTRATED THAT ADEQUATELY????
Ever wonder why marijuana was a federal Schedule 1 drug in the first place? It was thanks to the promotional efforts of Harry Anslinger, US Commissioner of Narcotics, 1930-1962, and this was his “reasoning”:
“Marihuana leads to pacifism and Communist brainwashing.”
“Reefer makes darkies think they’re as good as white men.”
“You smoke a joint and you’re likely to kill your brother.”
“Marijuana is the most violence-causing drug in the history of mankind.”
“The primary reason to outlaw marijuana is its effect on the degenerate races.”
“Marijuana is an addictive drug which produces in its users insanity, criminality, and death.”
“There are 100,000 total marijuana smokers in the US, and most are Negroes, Hispanics, Filipinos, and entertainers. Their Satanic music, jazz and swing, result from marijuana usage. This marijuana causes white women to seek sexual relations with Negroes, entertainers, and any others.”
I always disagreed with this approach to medical marijuana. While I do favor full (though regulated) legalization, the special treatment dope got when it came to medicine like this was wrong. If legal as a prescription, it should have been treated as such: note from the doctor, go to the pharmacy, get the size you were prescribed that was packaged and measured at an inspected facility with the FDA noting and asserting the percentages of the compounds every so often to verify there haven’t been any major changes in the product that could affect addictiveness or efficacy, for a regulated cost negotiated between the provider and your insurance.
You know, like every other medicine we have that isn’t homeopathic pseudo-scientific garbage.
The implementation of “ok, maybe you need this, so here’s a handful of seeds, we won’t tell you where we got them, plus a coupon for a heat lamp from Home Depot. Have at it. (wink, wink)” – just absolutely wrong.

If the Major Tobacco companies could have controlled all the growth and distribution of Pot, it would have been made legal DECADES ago.
