My TiVo acts as a universal remote on my bedroom TV. The big one in family room though, has a code that TiVo could not find, so I have to use the one from TV for on/off and
I also have an amplifier that I installed for better use with my outdoor speakers and I use THAT (without a remote) mostly for the volume and
My TiVo there is for all the channel changing as well as settings and scheduling shows.
It works well for the way I normally use it but would be difficult to leave with instructions for someone else.

I’ll bet not one of those things emits a click.

I only need one remote to watch most of my TV – and a flash drive stuck into the flatscreen. ;)
If I need to turn on the DVR or DVD player, then those are extra remotes.

It only takes one clicker to turn ON the tv… It takes multiple clickers to manage your input and sound sources.
