I’m walking my dog today and some 10 year kid aims his bike and rides at my dog. “Hey! stop that!” WTH! His dad, I guess his dad, says nothing. Strangeness….
Having been attacked by two large dogs for no reason, I steer clear of all dogs. One of the attackers was a Doberman. My brother was watching it for a friend. I rang the bell, my bother invited me in. I stepped inside, saw the dog at the end of the hall and it ran for me. I screamed, and ran to the bathroom. My brother said he’d never seen that happen before. Even if they are on a leash and the owner says the dog is friendly. Nope. Not going anywhere near it. I had a face off at a local take out place about a year ago. I was going in and a woman had her dog on a leash near the door. I just stood there, not moving. Didn’t say a word. She finally said to just go past her, the dog was friendly. Nope. I stayed put until she finally walked the other way.
Yeah, my dog and I have met quite e few dogs during our walks at the park, who have quite an attitude. Kids and adults are constantly asking to pet my dog, Max. He is a dachshund and there are only a couple others that come to the park. The most common remark….look at those little legs go!!
I have the opposite problem. My dog is big, all black, quite impressive and will slobber all over you if you let him. But because of his looks I had people threatening me to call the police and have them shoot him just for being leash free in the forest during his walks.

I don’t think that will be necessary.

Never pet a strange dog, especially when they’re on a leash or otherwise constrained.

I’ve learned to just watch the dog’s tail. If the dog’s tail is wagging, you’re safe.

Ya gotta watch out for those minature ones…they tend to be more ferocious than the bigger ones.

Man #1: Does your dog bite?
Man #2: No
Dog: Grrrr . . .snap
Man #1: You said that your dog doesn’t bite.
Man #2: That’s not my dog.

While you’re holding Norm, Ralph, could you tie his shoe for him?

Even if you have permission to pet the dog, it’s still a good idea to let the dog sniff your hand first.

Looks like a Lhasa sh!tsu malti-poop. They make nice little cat toys.

Once bitten, twice shy, except in Norm’s case.
