I remember reading about a kid who said he didn’t like reading his Shakespeare assignments because they were full of cliches. Of course they only became cliche’s because of Shakespeare coining them. All that glitters is not gold, jealousy is a green-eyed monster, etc.

My favorite one to hate……….. perfect! No it isn’t perfect, it isn’t even close. It is good enough.

I hate this one…”It is what it is.” Used too much it starting to sound like giving up.

“Literally” meaning figuratively drives me crazy. It is the worst one to me, because I literally use the word “literally” to mean literally.

It’s wisdom until someone says it when you don’t want to hear it. Then it’s cliche.

I get irrationally upset over the use of the word “Tragedy” to mean A Very Bad Thing. Tragedy is punishment from the gods for a sin.
Some get a little upset when I ask “What did they do to deserve the tornado?”

Gotta admit, Eno served a pretty bad one.

Is “Okey dokey” actually a cliche? Or just slang?

The most useless cliche/explanation in the human language: “It is what it is.”
