I worked for a place that sold “bellburgers”. We got orders to start adulterating the beef with soy extender. I called the local D.A. and they came out and took samples. It is illegal to use anything but 100% beef in a “burger” product. The home office was notified by the D.A.’s office and was quick to react. They take their business seriously. They immediately sent out new signage , changing the name of the product to “bellbeefer”. “Beefer” is not defined by law and can have pretty much anything you want in it.
I always thought it was weird that both “Taco Bell” and “Del Taco” could peacefully exist, seemingly separated by a “Taco Del”. I feel similarly about “The Original Pancake House” and IHOP.
