A LOT of competition for the bird feeder. I notice the birds it was probably intended for are now where to be seen. Or, might that be a migrating flock in the sky?
There is a family of deer living on my property under the trees near the arroyo. They feast on the lilacs and the apricot trees, but for some reason they leave the spirea alone. They are beautiful, glad to have them as neighbors.
The critters owned the land LONG before human invaded and took it over, And people wonder why critters are in their back yard? Wrong!! You are in THEIR back yard.
There’s an urban version. A friend of mine lived a few blocks away from an old abandoned factory. Then it was knocked down for redevelopment and all the nearby neighborhoods were suddenly swarming with rats.

A patch of land about a half mile from our house was developed a few years ago
We did have a lot of displaced critters in the neighborhood for a while but they have mostly moved on

“Don’t it always seem to go
That you don’t know what you got till it’s gone
They paved paradise, and put up a parking lot."

Yeah, that’s the bad news.
The good news is that you know have a small piece of those woods in your backyard. So, you know, if you like enjoying nature…
