Wherever he had to go so that he had to hurry up and make spaghetti, and he didn’t have any noodles so he had to be gone 15 minutes to go buy the noodles, so he could come back home and argue with Abby 15 minutes outside which has led to another argument inside, and the spaghetti is still not made or eaten, he better forget about going!
Shoot, I was being left alone… yes, for short periods of time only for the first year or so.. starting at age 7, was also watching my brother and sister by the time I was 8, and by the time I was 9 or 10 I was the go-to babysitter for five different families. Earned enough in one summer to buy myself a 10-speed bike… not bad for a kid making a buck an hour! Of course, this was during the late 70s, early 80s… amazing how much has changed since then.
What they did was burn some popcorn—yes, that’s not great, but I would hardly call that “nearly burning the house down.” Abby’s the one who’s blowing this out of proportion. As I commented yesterday, she should be treating this as a learning experience for the kids, so to help them to be more self-sufficient and better able to be entrusted with doing things like pop their own popcorn without burning it…not using it as an excuse to never trust them with anything, EVER.
My ex husband left our babies, one infant and a toddler, in the car, doors unlocked, motor running and the keys in the ignition, to run into the store to tell me that if I want to buy a clothes rack with my money I had to buy him something too. That’s something worth reading the riot act over. I should have had him arrested but I was so gaslighted, scared of him, that I merely got angry. My life was a nightmare of incidents.

I’d say they both failed at parenting, if kids that age can’t be alone for 15 minutes.

Well, even if you hate to admit it, admit it, you were wrong to leave your children alone, your wife is right (again)

I wonder how I ever survived.

Your male stubbornness is getting harder to maintain. Then that attempt with an anemic ’I’m sorry’ won’t cut it.

Will she stand in front of a mirror and say that?
