It is little known fact of Western history that it was gumslingers who tamed the West, not “gunslingers” as the misspelling seemed to assert. Flavorful gum replaced deadly “tobaccy” as the wad of choice, and so cowboys lived to make way for the Great Western Expansion (though they did have dental problems with frequent cavities)….
I have Marvel comics from the 80’s that have bubble gum advertisements for Hubba Hubba (I think) gum using a gumslinger character. Young guy in cowboy hat preparing for a bubble gum bubble battle against an opponent. He/She who could blow the biggest bubble.
