Hi all…Marty Links’, Emmy Lou creator, Son-in-law here. Marty would be so thrilled to see everyone enjoying her Emmy Lou again. Marty passed away a few years ago, but I think she knows! She was just a wonderful creative person who just loved everyone.
You’ll find that Emmy Lou is so relevant today. Yes, retro-cartoons and the 60’s and 70’s are in today, but much more important…Emmy Lou was a great role model to the youth of her time. Emmy Lou was about girls, boys and parents all done in a tasteful and respectful way. Emmy Lou pushed the limits and envelope with her parents but she never “crossed that line”, because she loved and respected them. Her humor could translate into the everyday life of anyone and everyone. I think that’s why we term these cartoons under “nostalgia”. They had a positive message for our youth.
Please keep your comments coming. I will post a comment weekly. Marty was a great friend of cartoonists Charles “Sparky” Schultz (50 years), Hank Ketcham, etc. I’ll share a couple fun stories with you.
