Well, our Petey’s alive, for a while And that certainly brings us a smile But the new target sights Might bring their own frights And a missile’s as good as a mile Now the fellow’s completely bereft And he’s suddenly seeming less deft Though we thought he would know Just where he should go He doesn’t know where they were left! =|====/ Level Head Vote for Endtown 2.0 And for Doc Rat, too The Endtown Forum
There’s a possible source from on high Since we know other things that can fly We know one for a fact: Could he then be attacked By an airscout from out of the sky? =|====/ Level Head Vote for Endtown 2.0 And for Doc Rat, too The Endtown Forum
Yay! Petey lives! He’s the only one of the group with previous first-hand experience of the Dittos. But why do we not see a night sky, now? It it just the smoke and laser light show from all the Topsiders?
Seems dittos have some “ant colony” behaviors… Imagine what can be done by one which would control the dittos (I remember they are somewhat between life and technology)Thus could explain a more developed plan.
Yeah, the diitos (if there were enough) could probably turn day into night and vice versa, but the explanation here is much simpler. Look at panels 3 & 4 from yesterday. The sun came up. :-).
An airscout is the obvious choice for panel 4, and that would be good thing since, to the best of our knowledge, the do not carry weapons. They are simply for observation. Now the only time we’ve seen airscout video before was on Al’s chipod and it was panoramic. The fact that this is a targeting reticle makes me doubt that it is an airscout. I’m wondering if this might be a view from whatever it was Wally and Flask saw in the sky two Fridays ago? This would be typical Neathery, since the answer is never the most obvious one :-). Glad today is only Thursday. We get one more peek before the weekend…
Aaron did the same thing before. The Sandy encounter happened at dusk. It started in daylight and ended in darkness. You get caught up in the action in the foreground and don’t notice the changing background until the action’s over.
Yes, the bloodbath was the “death” of Linda, Wally, Holly and Peter. So.. not only did we get a disconnect between Wally and Flask looking up on a Friday, and the “deaths” the next week, but between a single comic with Petey seeing things far away and – as we noticed – him being suddenly much closer. Turns out that no, he is NOT that fast after all.
Man, even when we see the giant clue, we don’t clue in. :)
We saw Wally and Flask looking up earlier. Now we are seeing through the eyes of whoever it was they were looking at. But now, we’re looking down at Petey. My guess is that Sparkplug is back. He was not killed in the fall in Hillside, and now he’s flying some kind of aircraft.
Well, the trouble with this situation, as with many others in this comic, is that you’re never sure of anything until it’s over. All signs point to Sparkplug being dead. (I really don’t see how the dittos could save him from having a city fall on top of him. Admittedly, having someone with his talents and knowledge about Amesworth radiation in Endtown would be immeasurably useful, but I can’t see any way Aaron could bring him back without invoking some seriously credibility-destroying stunts. (Not to say it can’t happen, just that I can’t see it.)) However, we’ve seen such signs be wrong before (for example, earlier with Endtown itself, and now with Petey, and likely Wally, Holly, and Linda.) I think we’ll just have to wait and see.
Now really, Petey’s dead, now he’s alive, now he’s in someone’s crosshairs! Is this a roller coaster or a bungee cord??? I know this is a dangerous place, but I’m starting to get dizzy! :-)
Petey wasn’t dead, just more dittos. Looks like the one in the crosshairs (or whatever it is) is the real guy. Hmmm, I see dittos everywhere, TSers running around and shooting like fools….what I don’t see is one downed TSer. Considering dittos were covering just about everyone, I take it dittos aren’t lethal and they don’t damage protective suits either. The TSers are scared, but not hurt or in danger of going mutant. How long will it take them to figure that out, I wonder?
And voila Petey is alive, and I’m sure our hero’s are too. Next time no gnashing of teeth and wailing till the Fat Lady sings, please. Also after seeing what was planned for our hero’s by the topsiders, let’s not hear any whinning about Flask’s vengeance. Go Walley!
Ok, now, 3 choices as to what happens next. 1) The reticule belongs to friendlies and Petey gets contacted to meet up with everyone. 2) The reticule is on the sniper scope of an unfriendly, probably a Topsider, and Petey is about to go into battle again, or possibly be shot down in the weekend cliffhanger strip. 3) We’re actually seeing the viewpoint of a neutral mutation that is about to eat Petey as the dessert part of its Flask, Wally, Holly, Linda breakfast.
At first I thought the view in panel 4 was the airscout, coming to reunite Petey with the rest of the gang, mission over. But something tells me it’s going to be more complicated. And thank you, Petey, in panel 2, for giving the audience an explanation of the plot, in true operatic style.
Imagine the scene, when the team returns to report back to Prof Mallard:“So, did you find the rocket and disable it?”“Well, ye-e-esss. After a fashion.”“And did everything go as planned?”“Not precisely one hunder per cent, in that regard. There was a certain element of the unanticipated involved – I feel these things give a mission a certain… character, don’t you?”“And what’s that you’ve got with you?”“Koala, sir.”
I think a dome would explain a lot, dittos would be able to display anything flying via the dome, the ditto’s themselves wouldn’t have to fly. It could explain all the falling clusters of dittos as well. Actually looking back at the last page there was signs of dawn during the attack. So the dittos may not have created night.
I went back to where the dittos showed up. I hadn’t seen the story of Al and Gustine. It seems Gustine used to be a regular human. I have gotten to the place where they got captured and Dr. Mallard runs in. I need to get to the end of that one and the start of this one now. Quite a story or stories.

Aww man, even Petey with his elevation can’t see the whole picture. Asking the same questions we are wanting to.
Interesting that he calls it a bloodbath, are the TSers hitting each other or are the dittos actually able to do some harm?
Now we have to wait a weekend to see just what is watching Petey.

I thought Mallard said his creation had eyes on the back of its head. So where are those peripheral optical devices now?

That’s the secret of a good illusion. The audience only sees what the magician want’s them to see. Yet it all takes place “right before your eyes”.

We have seen this style reticule before. When I get time I will look through back comics to find it.

looks like sniper recitals to me. I hope some (say, spark plug) isn’t trying to snipe petty from some sort of balloon, or something.

another thought that just occurred to me, is that this satellite of the TSs may be able to do more than simply WATCH what’s going on, on the surface…
