Yeah… don’t think about it, Linda! (My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard, damn right, it’s better than yours!) LOL!!! Merry Christmas my Endtowner friends!
May all my good friends here at Endtown, old and new, find the best of the holiday season for you and yours. Enjoy the day and I’ll be looking forward to hearing from you on the morrow! Looks like even Linda found a little happiness. Love the look in panel 4, she looks a little. . .moo-ved?
My city niece visited with us on the farm long years ago. She wouldn’t drink the milk because it came from cows and not bottles. Couldn’t convince her of what she was missing. Don’t know is she ever lived that down.
I’m reconsidering the provenance of Holly’s cheese. After six years, Endtowners probably are used to food produced by those who are built for it, as long as no one is killed for it. Maw may have no choice but to be milked regularly to avoid rupturing, and it would be a waste to waste the milk.
I shudder to think what TSers ate. Remember how Linda tore into those beans at the cafe with Maw? And Linda lit up at the taste of REAL food in panel two. I guess its a step to recovery.
Merry Christmas one and all.Enjoy the oatmeal.Linda’s expression can have two meanings. One of course the funny. The cream origin. The other is the oatmeal was a reward to her late husband for saving folk. Maude is sharing with Linda something dear to Maude’s heart. Consider it a Christmas Gift. Sharing something you love with someone else.
Well off to friends for xmas celebrations. I actually have a bean casserole along with my ham. Happy Chtistmas and Yule from the Silverwolves me, Tanna and the rugmice!
I’ve just started reading the strip during the pythonesque storyline. The strip seems to be more like “Kevin & Kell” (predition as a fact of life & ALL forms of life as people) than most furry webcomics. Interesting.
Look at it this way: after a disaster, humans have divided into two cultures. (Maybe more than that, but we’ve only seen the two.) They’re both beginning to evolve in directions that could not have been anticipated. So the notion of a human being who looks like and appears to give milk like a cow is probably not as shocking to them (who live it), than it is to us (who have not)—-and to Linda (who also hasn’t lived it till now.)
I wonder how Endtown’s attempts at food production are going? Surely they should have the wherewithall to grow mushrooms and other fungi. I think of the colony as an entirely self-contained eco-ship, with no throughput other than the endless supply of running water.
Do the topsiders always wear those uniforms, or only when out and about in the ‘contaminated’ air?
If they must wear them all the time it would keep them severely isolated from each other.. and it would make it harder to read each other’s body language. Perhaps it would result in their being more detached from each other emotionally. The result would be people who lose the little behaviors that make us human, and kind.Linda’s first brawl resulted from her taunt that Endtowners were envious of Topsiders ability to live on the surface.I believe the truth is just the opposite..Topsiders envy the Endtowners’ freedom to feel the air, and touch each other, and see into each others’ eyes. They turn that envy into hatred, and so the brutality begins.
Linda’s already beginning to see that her life might not be so bad after all, even if it might mean taking a few lumps now and then. Having a good life is not so much about where you live, but who you have around you.
