Unity, what a perfect name! Now they are truly “One, with everything”Nirvana has been achieved by the remaining residents of the late Sauroville.Too easily they were led, Too easily they went to their doomToo easily they will be forgotten.Just dust motes in the trackless wastes of the Amesworth Desert. They have joined the previous empires that came before,They too thought their world was the lastThe one that would stand for all timeBut time is cruel..

If I had to guess, I’d say the colony’s name was created by marketers. Probably the same type of marketers who decided to call a land made of ice and rocks “Greenland”.

    That was … sobering.

I was hoping since Sarah said the Topsider drones had arrived early, it was all a ditto trick to show the colony Sarah’s real nature.

Nope. The drones were real and the lizards all died.

Poor Kirbee. I wonder what’s going through her mind right now.

Not quite over maybe. Perhaps there will be an epilogue. Chic and Kirbee have lost all they knew. Both were introduced to us with some measure of innocence. Both have just experienced some of the worst side of “Unity”, but they’ve also lost folks they cared for. So maybe some comment from them….

Actually Unity fits the beliefs of the reptillians. They believed that by having only one kind of mutant, they would be unified and able to prevail over other mutant colonies in the war they believed was coming.I find myself wondering about that sack Kirbee’s carrying. When did she have time to grab anything in all the excitement?

Though I liked my term ‘Saurograd’, ‘Unity’ is very apt for the now destroyed lizard colony. However, the lizard-men had gotten the concept of unity mixed up with uniformity. Endtown practiced unity amongst mutants, for though there were diverse mutants, they were united in their desire to survive and live out their lives unmolested by Topsiders. (Though I know a certain Jackrabbit is dividing that beleaguered colony with his policies).

Unity derived their unity from uniformity i.e. by being of one mutant species that thought alike in their bigotry against other mutants.

Aaron, Thank you. That was fantastic. There’s some more things that need to be addressed, like do they ever make it out of the mountains and onto to a real “greener” pasture, but that was great.

Aaand, our heroes ride off into the sunse — er, the starset. Well done, Aaron! I’m ready for the next adventure, but I hope we are treated to a time where we can see Holly without that hopeless, panicked expression on her face. She’s due some mild weather now.

Interesting that we see Kirbee carrying a sack of some sort. Our gang of four carried nothing out of the colony. Dr Pauli WAS toting something before death rained down, but that was the only obvious baggage in sight. Could it be Clive? Beans? Eggs? Only time (and Aaron) will tell…. ;-)

I have a feeling Sarah hasn’t been vaporised. She may have survived by running and using others as a shield like the coward she is. Perhaps she isn’t the only one. I also see our heroes leaving tracks and wonder if that serves any foreshadowing for anyone wanting revenge….

Regardless hooray! They’re out of that hellhole!!…..for now.

This hasn’t been an easy comic to just “jump in on.” If you haven’t been following it for years, it takes a long time to try to figure out where you are, where it has been, and where it might be going.

Although they had nothing in their hands when the arrived at the scene of destruction, several of the lizards looked like they brought things. It’s possible when the tables… err, dittoes turned, they dropped what they had to run. And Kirbee picked it up, just like she picked up Holly’s apron. I get the feeling she feels better carrying something.I suggested Camelot: lots of supposed ideals, but rotting from within. Although in this case the “illegitimate” son is a good guy.

You know the message of this comic seems to be “helping anyone else is hopeless and useless.” Even the smallest good deed has magically turned into a turd for the protagonists.

So this is the punchline. Works for me, except for a few loose ends, like the aforementioned Clive. Also we never really got an explanation for that flashback (if flashback it was) at the beginning of the sequence.

Did… Did they go back into the burning colony to get supplies? I thought the entrance/exit collapsed? Or did they find supplies the Lizards had hidden before confronting them and take those?

I’m going to wager the latter since it seems unlikely they’d go back into the burning hellfire that was Unity.

Actually, Unity has been the ultimate example of “do unto others”. The lizards that mistreated Holly and Wally have all been wiped out. Only those characters that were nice to them (Kirbee, Irving and Chic) make it out to quest forth to a better future.Morale of the story arc so far:Don’t be a lizard.

I’m somewhat surprised that Wally didn’t do something to help but I really can’t argue with his logic. Sarah had used the colony’s mistrust of outsiders to poison the colony against the group. Any attempt at helping would have been severely punished. Walking away was the only thing they could do.
