Got the saucer magnolia(soulangeana) down pat. And, yest every fifth year or so they bloom through the season without getting frozen. This is on of those years and the blooms are fantastic.Actually everything is blooming at the same time. What a gorgeous year when a gorgeous year is really needed to take our minds off of coronavisrus or COVID-19 this year(which ever is the IN name today and on which network).

The magnolias in our neighborhood are big waxy white blossoms. The flowers shown above look a little more like the pink trumpet flowering trees that grow hereabouts.

Baseball is suspended for the time being. Nothing of value is lost.

Cheyenne can’t get its last snow of the winter until my lilacs have bloomed, so that it can kill them.

Saucer magnolias come in a variety of colors. From white to pink and very deep purple. It depends on the variety, soil, and even the elements.

I think these are the Japanese magnolias, like the ones in our front yard and many of our neighbors. They always bloom early (especially with the earlier and earlier springs we’ve been getting), and I always worry that there will be a hard freeze before they’ve had their time. This year — no worries. Our saucer magnolias are just now putting buds out.
