I walked a mile to kindergarten (in 1949), half a mile to 1st through 6 grades in South Gate and Norwalk, CA. After that I rode the bus, although I did walk the 2 miles home from high school and ride my bike all over Downey, CA in the late 50’s/early 60’s. So, is the world a more dangerous place in the 2000’s … or is it just a greater perceived danger?
Are people really this idiotic? Two kids the same size as their mother can walk three blocks to the bus stop. Hell, as far as I’m concerned they can take a bus across country – I did when I was 14. How about she tells the neighbour to mind their own damn business?
