You know you never own it because if you fail to pay your real estate tax you lose it. And if you improve it, well then they raise your tax. If you think it’s unfair and you appeal to ‘The Board of Equalization’ some fat, old appointed bureau critter will snarl that your tax is based on what your property ‘could be used for’. Do some math; Take your county and find the number of homes. Multiple that number by the average home value. Now apply the effective tax rate. Surprise! The b*stards have a very, very large chunk of our money to ‘improve’ our county. Like painting bike lanes over the potholes near me. By the way, two years ago I actually saw a person using the bike lane……for his tent. But don’t get me started…….
I would like to know where all the money goes….taxed to death! School levels waste more money than anyone! They put in a fountain near the football stadium, ( ridiculous) replaced a gym floor that was still good….(the coach took the old flooring and brought it to his NY summer home) yeah! Don’t get me started either!
