The older I get, the more I look like my mother.

Thank goodness I don’t look like my mother…I look exactly like my Dad’s mother. I have a picture of her at my age and we could be twins. Unfortunately I also got her short chunky body, sigh.

I got my looks from my mom, thank goodness.

The older I get, the more I look the way I remember my grandfather when I was 10.

As I get older, I look more and more like my maternal grandmother. She died when I was 6.

I gave my looks to my kids, and way too often.

I always thought I had the features of an indigenous American. My mother and her family denied it. I had no contact with my father’s family. I finally did DNA test and found my mother’s lineage goes back centuries in the Southwest. I am closely related to tribes in Arizona and New Mexico.

I sometimes wonder whether my Father was my real Father, but when you compare pictures of us, there’s no mistaking the lineage.

I got those looks too. But my father was verbal as well. “You’re no child of mine! I never want to talk to you again.”
