Mark Twain (or Samuel Clemens, if you prefer) was reputed to have said the first thing he does every morning, is go out & get the newspaper off the porch & turn to the Obituaries Section, if his name’s not there, it’s a good day!
He’s going to have a good day.
I have almost that much trouble waking up, needing a second opinion on whether or not I’m alive.
I wake up each morning with shivers and fits,
I pick up my paper and read the obits;
And if I’m not there, I know I’m not dead,
So I eat a good breakfast and go back to bed!
