I was disappointed every time when someone gave me socks or underwear. I’d have preferred not to get a gift from them at all.

No kid wants that or clothes for Christmas! You can buy that anytime of the year. I use to get them too. Such a disappointment especially if it comes from your grandma.

We always got more necessities than wants. Never bothered me, it was just how life was. There wasn’t enough money to “waste” it on a pile of toys. So we got a few toys & a few necessities & that’s all she wrote, folks!

I remember always having to fake it whenever I got clothing…but I’m guessing my folks could see through it!

Well she’s learned how to be facetious.

My daughter (40) and I decided she would pick what she wanted, I would buy it and wrap it. That way she got exactly what she wanted and I didn’t have to agonize about what to get for my autistic daughter. Actually she was going to buy the items herself and I said I would buy them for her and she asked me to wrap them so she would have something to open on Christmas. We are visiting my sister’s and our family is not big on Christmas. It was just my daughter, me, my mom and brother-in-law. My sister is visiting one of her daughter’s in Florida.
