April: Whatcha doin', Liz? Elizabeth: Seeing what jobs are available for students around here. Looks like my job at Megafood is toast. They're going to "autoscan!" People are scanning their own produce, so they aren't hiring as many cashiers this year. April: I heard about that! You check your own groceries through. ... But, there's gotta be someone around to make sure nobody cheats! Elizabeth: Yeah. They'll probably have exit alarms, cameras an' the FBI. April: The FBI? Elizabeth: Food bag inspectors.
They are called self-checkout hosts and they do just as much as a cashier.
