Deanna: Good. It's staying down. Michael: Deanna? How are you feeling this morning? Deanna: Fine! So far. Honey, I'm going to tell Meredith we're expecting another baby. Michael: Really? Deanna: Meredith - what's this? Meredith: Baby! Deanna: Mommy's going to have another baby! you're going to have a brand new brother or sister! Meredith: Baby! Deanna: Right now, the baby is here! Baby in tumy! Baby here! Touch baby. Baby in tummy! Meredith: ? Michael: Somehow, I don't think she's old enough to understand!
They don’t have to understand initially. I told our eldest that there was another baby “on the way” when he was just over a year old. He didn’t get it, either. BUT, as I got more obviously bigger, we would mention it to him and let him feel my big tummy. He made the final connection when I gave birth IN THE KITCHEN! (Not on purpose, of course.) Some babies are in a much bigger hurry than others. LOL. :D
