Elizabeth: So, I'll fly to Thunder Bay, then go east by train to Spruce Narrows. Gary, the other teacher, will pick me up there and drive me to Mtigwaki. I have so many new words to learn. The only ones I'm sure of are the months, the days of the week, hello and goodbye. April: How do you say "hello" in Ojibway? Elizabeth: Boo-zhoo. April: And goodbye? Elizabeth: Mi-gwetch. But it's more than "goodbye"... it's a ceremonial word - a very polite way of saying "thank you". April: SO, if I say "Mii-gwetch" when you go - I'll be thanking you for leaving?
