Gary: As a kid, growing up in Mtigwaki was great. I learned to hunt and fish with my dad - but when I became a teenager there was "nothing to do". So, I got into a lot of trouble. Mom ran the corner store with her auntie. That, and raising my two sisters kept her pretty busy. She couldn't handle me! Dad was diabetic. He died when I was in grade 10. I was sent to live with relatives in Thunder Bay, where I finished high school. I was lucky enough to be able to go on to University. A lot of my friends just...dropped out. Elly: Was it hard to come up with the cash? Gary: Sure, but it was harder to come up with the confidence.
