The horrors of the slow cooker. Everyone, I will not be on until sunday, past tommorow. I am going to my dads for thanksgiving, and I hope everyone who is celebrating has a nice, safe, fun thanksgiving holiday. Go Cowboys, win on Thanksgiving.
To the Canadians who already had theirs, same. Go Stars and Penguins.
I feel the same way when I use my slow cooker. Everything starts to smell sooooo good, long before it’s ready to be eaten. The best way is to put everything in the cooker, then leave home for several hours, or even all day. Come home and, voila. dinner.

Have a good Thanksgiving! Us Canadians will take care of the postings for the next two days, not to worry! :D
Dun dah dun! Canadian’s to the rescue! (hmmm that seems kinda familiar .. haha j/k)
Have a great Thanksgiving my American Friends. Do eat too much, and try to leave me a slice of pumpkin pie, I’ll be by ALL of your houses over the weekend. hahaha
Catlady is right. You put the food in the slow cooker in the morning and come home to your dinner already cooked. When you walk in the door and take a sniff, it’s great. And all the work’s done. I wouldn’t be without the slow cooker.
I have several slow cookers in different sizes for different groups of people. I adore it! I put everything together the night before and stick it in the fridge. In the morning, on my way out the door I pop it in the cooker and turn it on low. By the time I get home from work/school, I’ve got a hot yummy meal!
I like slow cookers too. I just need some new recipes that don’t turn everything into soup (even though we do like soup). If anyone has a good website, send it my way.
@mroberts88, have a happy Thanksgiving (yes, we *do* care regardless of what ricer46 thinks) and we’ll “see” you on Monday.
lightenup: I don’t know a website, but I have a recipe for a luscious slow cooker pot roast.
put a 3-4 lb boneless chuck roast in the bottom of the cooker, cover with 1/2-3/4 Lipton dry onion soup mix and a can of condensed cream of mushroom soup
Add baby carrots and potatoes (cut to large bite size)
Cook on high for 4 - 5 hours until the meat is tender.
The juices and soups combine to make a great gravy.
lightenup, you need to go to B&N for cookbooks that for crockpots only. Great receipes - and, I can’t believe there are not receipts on line for crockpots…go to the crockpot makers site nad see what they say,
A large slow cooker (a/k/a crock pot) is great for cooking bone-in hams, too. The trick is to get one that will fit into the pot. Cook it for about 12 hours (I usually flip it part way through), until it is so tender the meat falls off the bone. That’s how I cook beef roasts, too. No added ingredients. Super easy, and delicious! (I start with a frozen roast, if thawed, it probably won’t take as long.)
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving everyone. Our turkey will be smoked, our sweetpotatoes need finished by baking no marshmallows but crumb topping and nuts, my pumkin pie is done my way not so sweet I change two ingrediants and the weather is nice in Kansas.
Go to www.google.com and type in what kind of recipe you want and you will have so many sites come up you won’t ever be able to wade through all of them.
yeah, flagging is so much more effective than feeding ;) Must try this slow cooker thing - tend to do it manually (osso buco, ox-tail soup, ragú, mmm!)

mroberts88, do you really think anyone cares? I doubt that your presence will be terribly missed.

Elly needs a pressure cooker instead.
Later mroberts. (Happy Thanksgiving)
ricer46: I doubt mroberts values your opinion on the matter either.

Sounds like a great idea to me (the whole slow-cooker concept.) Loved this strip - LOL!

@ ricer46
Hmm… as you’re someone who’s older, one might have expected a comment much wiser.
What a mean thing to say! Do you even know mroberts88? Because you sure don’t know some of US, because some of us actually DO care.
I really hope you just had a bad day at work…. (not that that’s any excuse for what you said.) >:o|

I must say, @ricer46, that I don’t think your presence would be missed. Name one thing that that comment contributed to the discussion.
