Ah, that amazing talent children have for splitting hairs. Scientists would have split that atom so much sooner if they’d let children try. They can split anything.
When I looked at what she was typing on it looked an awful lot like the first word processor my oldest brother had (decades ago and way before computers got small). It was a Brother and was like a typewriter attached to a small screen. Very odd looking thing but very efficient and “in” for its time. He also had a printer. Great big thing and you had to wait 10 minutes for one page! Thank you for the links, especially the villa in Spain comment. I had forgotten that and it really made me laugh once again.
I actually feel for Elly on this one. I’m going back to school and know just how hard it is to study with constant interruptions. While my kiddo’s are bad, it’s my hubby that’s worse. I think I can finally study once the kids are in bed, and then he interrupts every few mintues to tell me about something he just read on the internet or something.
Elly will not give up her goals for becoming a writer, writing a book or whatever she desires to chase her dream. She will keep going and taking some courses at night classes.
Mike really likes his mom and wants to be part of her world. Questions are a great way to connect with people and I think Mike knows this at a deep level. Maybe he feels that talking to someone is an idle pastime while asking questions is involves a greater commitment. It’s really hard for children and for that matter adults to let go of wanting connection and attention. Mike’s just hanging on. And I can just hear his hopeful tone of voice.
Ellie will always be stuck with balancing her various responsibilities. Good luck Ellie!
Everyone is in a good mood today.
Howtheduck…as usual, you’re input is terrific. You said something I would have called you on (if she’s on a computer, she wouldn’t have paper in her hand…), but pattybf got there first.
Thank you pattybf and always thank you howtheduck.
Hey, my comment got so edited, it doesn’t make sense. I was giving pattybf a compliment and explaining why. How in the heck can that be edited. It was a compliment. I don;t get it. Who does that????
Howtheduck - do you happen to have a link for when April was a baby and asleep in the carseat and Elly brought in all the grocery’s, put them away and was sitting with a cup of tea when she suddenly remembers April still in the car? I’ve been trying to find it and have had no luck.
Howtheduck - I appreciate going to relevant old strips that you provide. I see they have a search engine which is probably good if you know exactly what to look for ;-) my memory is not that great.
It would be a good idea for the site to give a link to the assocated former cartoon (probably too difficult) or the “previously published” as OBH…
Howtheduck - Thank You for the link! I loved that one had it cut out and lost it in a move. I think I loved it because I did the exact same thing with my youngest. The only saving grace was that my daughter had not woken up when I rushed out to get her.
Howtheduck - It was spring and I had left the windows down & the car door open so the car did not get hot. But even still it made my heart beat a little faster.

If SHE speaks when I read, that’s alright, I can always begin three paragraphs earlier. Let my mouth open when the TV is on—–
