can’t wait for the outpouring - oh she hates her son! such a bad mother! - well the saying goes, there never was such a good child born that his mother wasn’t glad when he fell asleep…
No joy for ellie on this day
As she watches her son skip and play
Her days are all filled with strife
How she hates her lot in life
Her husband never seems to help out
God, how could she have married such a lout
Cleaning, washing, food to cook
All her sacrifices they overlook
For granted she has been taken
She feels she has been forsaken
But it could be a really great day
If they all would just up and go away.
I love when school is out! We don’t have to get up so early/go to bed so early. We can learn lessons in the yard and garden, go on walks, color, paint, watch movies in our pj’s, go to the library - all during the day and not scrunched into a hour at night! Yay!
@Nelly55… As a young goaler, chores were mandatory at our house whether school was in session or not! When school was out, then we could concentrate on BASEBALL!!!! I grew up in St. Louis, where the Cardinals are a civic duty! ;-)
This is my first summer at home with the kids, and I’m mostly looking forward to it. I’ve already told them that we’ll have lots of fun, but we’ll also be doing some chores, that one goes with the other. School let out for us in GA last Friday, and so far so good. Mid-July should be interesting though…
@rac0308 I believe the Cincinnati Reds are in first place in the NL Central Division. They are one game ahead of St. Louis. (LETS GO REDS!!!!!)
I can understand Ellie’s melancholy as she contemplates an entire summer of Mike’s energy and keeping up with a toddler. No matter how you love your kids, it’s difficult to keep up with them and take care of all those other responsibilities around the house. Hopefully, Mike and Lawrence will find something to occupy their time and keep them out of trouble.
It doesn’t look like she’s rejoicing there, Paul Jones. You people make up what you want to see, you don’t really read the daily happenings, that ‘s why you can’t handle when people point out what really was written. List of chores? Where did that come from? He’s happy about summer vacation coming soon. Elly Patterson is never happy about anything. How many days do I have to go back to find a moment when she was happy about anything? Forget about days, how many story lines do I have look back through? She was happy maybe once or twice this entire year so far, and when she is, it’s always for selfish reasons, especially when it spites someone else, which are the two times I can recall for the 2010 reruns.
The spammer is bad enough, what’s worse is that the flagger-person is asleep for the second day in a row.
Michael’s joy will last about a day before “I’m bored” kicks in. I remember what I was like, and it didn’t matter how many activities I had – my mom just couldn’t keep me entertained.

every year I’d have a TON of activities set up for the kids and we’d STILL run out of things by mid-July
plus, there isn’t a kid alive who considers chores an activity….lol

Michael, here’s a hint: watch Phineas & Ferb on Disney Channel. Hmmm, can a cartoon watch a cartoon?
