I can hardly believe that about not wanting to be called if there is a death in the family. The rest I can understand, depending on the job situation. Since we live about 20 miles from any store that carries the brand of milk my husband insists we buy (Braum’s), he had to buy milk on the way home from work many, many times, rather than me burn the gas. However, once he had a desk job & email, that became the normal notification method. Before that, I just asked him to call from work before he left, to see if we needed anything. When we still lived in the city, that wasn’t necessary, but with living out in the country, we can’t run to the store as easily.
Now that our son is driving, I’ve got him trained to call before he leaves town (where he’s attending college) to see if I need anything.
