John, like most other men, is attracted to women, and Thank Goodness for it. Ogling women is almost a reflex, and it does not reflect negatively upon a man’s love for his wife. Women respond similarly to babies; it’s instinctive to look and take pleasure in looking, and it doesn’t mean they actually want to have another baby.
Elly would do well to be glad that her husband likes women and, therefore, is capable of loving her.
It’s not disrespectful to anyone if you look at a baby and think it’s cute. But it is disrespectful for John’s eyes to almost pop out of his head and have a stupid, goofy-looking grin on his face looking at another woman while his wife is standing right there next to him! And if a man doesn’t have enough sense not to do something like that in front of his wife, then he probably would have a hard time adhering to the “look but don’t touch” concept, as well.
