Elly’s expression in Panel 4 is a sign when a mother is “losing” it.

Anne, give Elly a break! She shouldn’t have to explain herself over and over again!

The problem is…You can talk to adults, but will they listen as adults?

Mostly I’d rather talk to kids. Grown-ups are judgmental. And weird. For kids, weird is just imagination run wild.

Talking to grownups is over rated.

Elly talks to more grown ups than I do. But either way, everyone deserves a chance to follow their passion.

“I actually think you prefer dogs to human beings!”“Every time! You never get a nasty word from a dog.”“No—only a nasty tooth in the leg!”“Dogs are a good judge of character.”“One of your brutes almost pinned me by the leg last week—what do you say to that?”“Same as I said just now!”.(from Agatha Christie’s “Murder is Easy”/“Easy to Kill”)

My family’s pet dog would beg to differ. We give her a treat when there’s signs of someone moving out, or we’re going camping. She’ll snub the treat and lay down in the walkway until she’s sure that no-one’s moving out or that she gets to come along. She’s being judgemental saying, “Yeah right, like that treat’s going to distract me? I know what you’re up to.”

Well since YOU judged me, I guess it proves my point. NO kid has ever talked to me that way. I’ll take a kid who I can teach ANYTIME to an idiot adult.

And that’s one of the reasons why I love my dog so much!

That would be University of Toronto. Or as the natives call it, “Tronna.”

I wish my friend would move nearby, or even one of my sons; I’m getting too old to do everything alone with no help. I love doing the womanly things (cooking, decorating and sewing with light garden and pool care) but manly things are harder at my age.
