Also, this was written in the 1980’s…. there were more places that didn’t lock doors everywhere back then.
That said, I lived with a Canadian once who was deeply disturbed when someone broke into his locked car, and told me at length how neither car doors nor house doors are locked in canada (not cities, suburbs / towns / etc.)
And, when and where I grew up, actually I used to start my car and then leave it running in the driveway whilst I was in the house during the winter. I can’t imagine doing that here, or no-one stealing it if I did.

Do I see a climbing in through a window scenario? ;)

I can barely imagine police arresting a baby-sitter for breaking and entering the babies’ parents’ home.

Okay, Jon, you pry open a window and crawl inside. Elly, pass Baby Richard to Jon…

Richard has caused more trouble than I’ve ever had when I was his age

Yep, I know someone from Novia Scotia and no one locks cars or houses up there. No theft

It’s interesting that northern countries seem more resistant to crime in the form of government debt as well.

Even if John does get into the house does he know where the potty is. Again let the kid make in his pants. That is his problem.

strap him to the toilet seat, he’ll go eventually!

He’ll either use their potty—or he’ll pop like a balloon; either way, problem over

Put a diaper on him and he won’t like it. Then maybe he’ll go potty at Patterson’s.

I’d say Michael Moore was just plain wrong. Big city Canadians lock their doors , small town Canadians not so much. Just like in the States.

Put a diaper on a potty trained kid? That kid would FREAK!

Nevermind, by now the kid would have finished the job…

Was Michael born prematurely? Normal pregnancy is 40 weeks or 10 months!
