This one is a little confusing based on what we have seen before. Earlier this week, Elly’s complaint with the stove was that the broiler drawer wouldn’t work. Then Elly emphasized the linoleum, the cabinets and the toaster to John as if those were the important things to her. My guess from what I saw earlier in the week was that the broiler was the part of the oven that was not working.
Now we learn differently. The broiler is the only part of the oven that is working. Me personally, if the stove only works on broil, that would be the thing I would be talking about with my husband. You are seriously limited in your cooking if you have no effective oven where you can vary the temperature. On the old ovens, broil has only one temperature, which functions at about 550 degrees Fahrenheit. Anything you cooked that way, you would have to watch very carefully. Judging from the meatloaf, Elly was not watching that carefully.
