Luccia Messina was Lynn Johnston’s neighbour from across the street when she was growing up.
Patti Scott is reference to a friend Lynn Johnston had when she lived in Corbeil, Ontario. Her association with Patti was through Dr. Don Scott, a dentist who lived in the area that worked with Lynn’s Johnston second husband.
Kietha O’Leary. I don’t know the reference.
Ranjeet is a boy’s name. The female form is Ranjeeta or Ranjita.
Luccia Messina is the name of a good friend and neighbour who lived across the street from me in North Vancouver. She moved to Canada from Sicily with her mother and dad and older brother, Pedro, and we have been friends since grade one. This was my way of saying “Hi” to her when she read the strip. Cartoonists do this all the time. It’s great to know we can send out a “hug” that might appear in 1000 papers!

I’m thinking the 1998 version of “Parent Trap”. Anyone have a long lost twin?

As children we were told to never talk to strangers. Can you say oxymoron or paradox.

When I was a child….in a safer time and place….my grandmother told me that a stranger was just a friend I hadn’t met yet.

That’s a pretty ethnically diverse group of campers – never would have had that much diversity down here in the US back when this was penned!

When I went to camp, we didn’t unpack, we only took out what we needed from our suitcases every day.
