Been there, done that and never did get sold. Just short of 5 years in my case. Spent the last weeks of October and early November Painting the outside around the snow showers, before shipping out to Europe.
Annie continues with her habit of slamming her husband Steve every time we see her. It is leading to something, but we have a long time before we finally get to it.
So Annie & Steve had another house for 10 years before they moved next door to Ellie? And they still moved there when their oldest child Christopher was a baby?
Husbands don’t do renovations because 1. It is a PIA and 2. Crazy expensive – there are better things to spend money on than a house that still have workable necessities, ableit out of date – which is not that concerning to the guys. Come time to sell, husbands hear from realtor that out of date homes would not get them top dollar, and bam, they blow off dust in the garage and pull up the stakes.
Yep, putting a house up for sale usually gets the fix-ups started….for the new owners! My father used to say that he never understood why people (back in the day) would put seat covers on a brand new car with nice upholstery instead of enjoying it and then put seat covers on when it’s time to sell/trade it!
In May we were not going to sell the house, wife had it fixed up just like she wanted. Then went to visit daughter and family, came back and wife said, I want to move there. So, house up for sale after most of stuff moved out, house up for sale 4th of July weekend. sold in 10 days. Closed on July 31, Aug 1 we moved to new state. 2 weeks of looking and we found our new house, close in the middle of Oct.
We just sold our house, and didn’t do a whole lot of fixing up. We were a bit surprised that the things that had been done by the previous owner were considered prime upgrades and we got almost $30K more for the house than the nearby comps.

Lynn’s Notes:
So many people wrote to say this had happened to them, I had to make up a “standard reply!”
