This is where a bluetooth ear piece would come in handy.

There are times when this comic strip seems like a nostalgic blast to the past and this would be one of those times. I remember having this exact problem back in the day.

Back when phones were bulky enough to hold to your ear with your shoulder.

I often wish I could do that with my smartphone, but alas – it’s just too slim.

I had a wall phone with a 60 foot cord. I could walk all over my downstairs with the phone in the crook of my neck. As Rosette said above, can’t do that with a cell. And when I put my cell on “speaker”, the person at the other end says they can’t hear me. Talk about “tethered”. I get tired of holding the cell phone. Never got tired of holding the big ones. In fact, if I want to chit chat, I tell people to call my land line, not the cell. It’s bigger and easier to hold, even in my neck, if necessary. I’m not doing the headset thing because I am not on the phone chatting every day. Maybe once a month with an old friend. If that.

One of my sons called that position the Igor after a favorite character in Young Frankenstein. Certainly fits a lot of users these days. I’d be surprised if there isn’t a medical name for it floating around somewhere. After all, there is affluenza – that actually worked for a while – and one that cropped up last week about the problems of withdrawal from addictive video gaming. Wonder who will be first to apply that for a defense.
