What a pair of hellions! MIke’s going to earn every penny! Since this is his first formal experience at babysitting, he may have to develop a list of what behaviors he should tolerate. He just doesn’t have a clue as to the rules in that household….IF THERE ARE ANY. Good luck Mike!
With two little boys, Michael should have brought some games, toys, or had some active activities for them. Managing boys is easier when they’re moving around safely and having fun!
If I didn’t know this strip originated many years ago, I swear there was a quite tribute to Mork Walker of Beetle Bailey and Hi & Lois. Those kids look like the offspring of the latter.
I loved those easy babysitting job times, when it was just watch TV and snack on stuff they left for me. Of course who wouldn’t? Of course they were few and far between….. I was usually paid 25 cents an hour.
They had a story on-line were the poster as a teenager was offered a job watching two little boys after school until the parents came home. She met them at the bus stop, walked them home and stayed with them about 2 1/2 hours until the parents came home. She usually didn’t discuss pay up front, but had usually gotten $4-$5 an hour with other people. Mom pays her for the first week and hands her a $5 bill, which came to $1 per day or 40c per hour. Nope, didn’t stay with that job long.

Giving these rotten kids sugar right before bedtime. That’s a mistake the couch will pay for.

Far from it from me to be sadistic but….in a way this is payback for the times when Michael acted this way when he was those boys’ ages. ;-D

Mike is being respectful about not asking about how much he’s getting paid

Christopher has a good point there, Michael. (I’m pretty sure Richard is the younger kid.)

Poor Mike. Five bucks an hour isn’t bad, though – hang in there!

When I was in MIke’s shoes, I used direct bribery to keep the hellions under some control.

Gee…five dollars an hour. When I babysat at 12 years old (in the early 60’s), I was paid .50 cents an hour and felt lucky!

I used to babysit a kid with extreme ADHD. Fortunately, I was older than Mike by the time I got that gig.
