You know you’re getting old … really, really old … when you start comparing today’s prices with those of your youth. Dagnabit!

Make the nickel-candybar adjustment: rides were five candybars when I was a kid, they’re a buck now, so $3 is a bargain.

$15 for the county fair here, but that includes all of the Grandstand shows.

Carnival rides excluded. Never really liked them anyway.

All of the above, however, riding the Santa Monica Pier ferris wheel at sunset was the most wonderful thing and makes up for them all.

Just like back in the 60s I could go see a matinee, get a coke and a giant dill pickle for about $1.00

My brother-in-law brought his family to Disneyland in Florida, and stopped by on their way home. They brought with them a dose of Norovirus that sickened all of us.

You Disney bashers can just stay away. We have been to Disneyland once, and Disney World 3 times. We’re planning to go back. The ticket price is a whole lot more palatable than the price of one night in a motel. What do you get for that?

BTW, go to Disney World in the off times. In mid-January the lines are pretty short.

I hear you. A can of salt was 9c for years, now 99c. I once owned a house for 15 years. When I went to sell, it sold for 30% more. However, this was during the Carter Years when prices were doubling and tripling, so the purchasing power of the house was far less when I sold it!

I don’t understand. Why would the fair have charged less for the first thirty-one rides?

That’s what you get when governments and central banks print up paper money willy-nilly.

Umm, No.. it’s what you get when the owners want a return on their investment.. AND have to pay the operators who expect somewhat of a living wage.. AND have to pay rent for the parking lot AND fuel to get to the site.. AND……………………

$3 for a 30 second ride, that’s $360 per hour. At that ‘rate’ a 13 hour day at Disneyland would be $4,680 but you need to take away travel to the next line, waiting in that line and food/bathroom breaks.
