For heaven’s sake, leave a throw blanket on the sofa and use it when you snuggle on the sofa. You live in CANADA where it snows every winter and is quite cold. You are a native so it’s no excuse you are shivering on a sofa without a sofa blanket right in front of an open window. You might want to invest in a climate deflecting lining on the curtains to keep heat or cold behind the drapes – they work. My mom put this lining on all of the drapes to keep the heat at bay in our Phoenix’s 115 degree summers – works for the cold also.
I had a cat that did that, a lovely calico. The heating vent was in the floor and whenever I felt cold I’d go find her lying right on top of it. I’d pick her up and snuggle her warm belly!
My grandfathers farn house had a large heating vent coming through the floor. His old dog would lie on it for warmth and pass gas. He stunk up he whole house.
Make the dog move get a blanket and close the currents all will help. I’ve lived in drafty homes and keeping the currents closed blocks the cold. Making the dog move will get rid of the smell and won’t kill the dog.Also tell the kid who stuffed his socks in the heater, if he so much thinks about that stunt Ever Again, he will not be allowed in the house For the Rest of His Life, Even if it’s -20000. His has more to do with safety he could’ve burned the house down. Then inform Annie of the new rule Her Kids Have To Behave In Your House.
Had an old English sheepdog who liked to lay in front of the baseboard heater. We came home to the smell of burnt wet wool. The dog got up to greet us and one whole side of his body was singed in the patter of the grill – been there!
During winter months, our dog would place herself just in front of the electric heater as soon as she wised up about the heat coming from it. We were fairly good about baths, so she didn’t smell badly like Farley does…

Maybe Farley went outside and rolled in a dead skunk !

Farley can soak up a lot of heat. That would explain both the chilly temps and the odd odor.

My Pug lies on the air vents in the winter, and my Peke lies on the air vents in the summer. I pay the bills year ’round. :{

I couldn’t imagine trying to heat a house in Canada with baseboard heat.

Oh Elly. The things you worry about. If I were you, I would worry more about the dream I had while lying on the couch about eating a green pillow.
