Later on, I’m foreseeing Michael using Elizabeth’s hairbrush on Farley’s fur coat.

At least it was in Farley’s mouth and not the other end.

My idiot brother put poison on my toothbrush when I was 13. He was 17. I was hospitalized for several days and almost died. My mother didn’t even punish him. In fact, she threatened me with violence if I ever told anyone what he did. 30 years later my brother poisoned our mother. She died and he was put away forever.

I remember George Carlin had a bit about there are only a select group of places on you that should be cleaned every day and you can save a lot of time by using the same brush.

If this strip is a reflection of Lynn’s real life, she must have had a pretty disfunctional life. I grew up with my brother, and we never had issues like this. We were best friends.

    Lynn’s Comments:

I try to make a comment about each of these cartoons but there are times when nothing comes to mind. Where ideas come from has always been a mystery. When I first joined the National Cartoonists Society and could finally talk face to face with cartoonists I’d admired for years, the thing we’d discuss most was: “where and how do you get your ideas?” If you have the gift, ideas come. Ideas come when you are on a deadline and have no choice but to produce something. Good or bad, the idea has to be written, drawn up and sent in. It’s a real job.

At least Liz didn’t clean the toilet bowl with it. Reminds me of Seinfeld episode.

Frankly, knowing the condition of human mouths, perhaps poor Farley has more to be disgusted by.

I don’t remember pulling pranks like either of these, but my younger brother and I did not get along and tried to get each other in trouble at any opportunity. And we would both gloat about the success of the ruse, even if we got caught and punished too. I’m so glad we grew out of it. He’s one of my best friends now.

It’s really weird that I once had a boyfriend who constantly used MY toothbrush! I had put up a rack with 2 toothbrushes, and told him his was blue and mine was pink (easy to remember, I thought), but he used only mine and never touched the other one. I finally started hiding my toothbrush so he’d leave it alone. He never explained; I think he just did it to show contempt for me. What a weirdo! (Relationship was short-lived, needless to say!)

This does presume that Michael wouldn’t rather have dog germs than sister germs…

I love panel five, where Elizabeth, now a bit wiser, makes a decision to have ugly brother show some “respect”!
