Yep. That’s my older son. My husband, our younger son and I are glasses wearers. My older son is quite fond of bragging about his perfect vision. Wonder whose gene he got his perfect vision from since nearly everyone on both sides of my husband and my families wear glasses.

We had really good insurance when I was a teen. I had my purse stolen at school and made a list of items in it and dad filed a claim. Wouldn’t work today with $1,000+ deductibles!

Elisabeth is glad that someone understands. The them will never understand.

I was so proud of the fact that I was the only one in our family who didn’t wear glasses. Until the 10th grade, when I came home from school one day and told my mom I needed them. She asked me why I thought I needed glasses. My answer was that my arms weren’t going to get any longer. (I had my history book as far away from me as I could in class that day.)

John gets us and he basically agrees with my point throughout this whole storyline. Kids always do something that makes them misplace or break their glasses. It’s not the end of the world.

Exactly the 20/20 set just don’t understand,besides I can’t look for my glasses when I can’t see!!

My #2 sister was nicknamed “eagle eyes” as a kid and gave me grief about my glasses. Last I saw her, she was wearing bifocals.

Elly needs glasses too. She is squinty-eyed in the first panel.

Finally the yelling stops

John, the voice of reason.

“And maybe we need to buy car keys in bulk since yours were found in the lawn yesterday!”

I wore contacts for 45 years. I think I lost six in all that time -but three the first year we were married. Husband almost had a conniption even though I paid for the replacements out of my salary (and without contacts my vision was 20/400). When my kindergartener got glasses, I bought two pairs up front – wire rims he loved but I though were flimsy, and one pair with a sturdier frame. The wire rims actually held up well, although during the year he had to trade off glasses when one or the other pair would go mysteriously missing for a week or two before we found it again. We got two pair every year until he got contacts, on his doctor’s recommendation, in middle school. Having a back-up pair really reduced the stress of his wearing glasses at such a young age.

I lost my first pair of glasses within two weeks of getting them. Found them years later, wedged against the front seat frame of our old Ford Falcon.

Fast forward to adulthood – I splurged on a pair of polarized bi-focal sunglasses. I know exactly where I lost those two weeks later – they fell into the water while I was fishing. I didn’t catch anything that day. No doubt some trout had really good vision and told the rest those weren’t real flies.

And “WE” do not forget……lol!!!

I told my parents for over a year that I needed glasses (I was seven) but my parents said I just wanted glasses because my older brother had them. When my mother finally took me to the eye doctor, he said my eyes were even worse than my brother’s.

She’s one of “them”. Yep. An obstinate hippie/ex-hippie who is always right. I LOVE to see them get taken down a peg or two…..

Lost my first three pairs of glasses within the first three months of the first year. During the second three months of that year, I busted by sitting on or stepping on or closing the door on the next three sets of glasses… In that year I had heard every lecture on responsibility and Duty and frugality also known as saving money that I would ever need for the rest of my life… Elizabeth oh, don’t you worry honey… The worst is yet to come… Hahaha… At least your daddy understands.

John’s such a good papa! Poor sweet Lizzy.:’(

I think Ellie need counseling on how to talk to her children

Really John? Even though Elly may have gone “off the deep end” criticizing the child, the comment in panel 4 was not necessary and degrades Elly in the sight of her daughter.

I wear glasses, my Uncle Bubba wears glasses, my cousin who’s my sister’s veterinarian doesn’t, my mother wears glasses when it’s 75 degrees outside, my grandfather’s stepfather doesn’t wear glasses, my pet goldfish wears glasses, my mechanic Bob’s son would wear glasses if Bob was willing to pay for them but he isn’t going to because his son spilled milk on the rug. Elizabeth may feel like she’s been mistreated right now, but wait till she has to marry that pathetic Anthony. A few months later she’ll think FML. And Elly and/or John are either bad or good parents.
