There’s gloating, Elizabeth, and there’s GLOATING. Watch it with the latter.

Maybe Elizabeth should join Michael in his misery.

    The taunts:

Panel 1: First of all, “yewww”. Nothing gets a brother upset more than a mispronounced word.

Second, Elizabeth is going out to see a movie with Dawn and she rubs it in to Michael that he cannot go out and she can. This would be a more impressive taunting except that once the weekend is over, Michael is no longer grounded and he will be back to going out late every night with Martha again.

Panel 2: Elizabeth talks about getting hamburgers and fries and ice cream. This taunt is another good one because Michael is staying home, then Michael has to eat Elly food.

Panel 3: Elizabeth goes for the theme of sentences that start with the words “too bad”. There is nothing that angers an older brother more than a sister who can repeat words.

It’s called “payback,” Michael. Deal with it.

This is why I was never sorry that I didn’t have brothers and sisters.

When your mother is hormonal is not a good time to be doing taunting like that, Elizabeth.

Nice tribute to the Intrigues in the first panel. The record collectors among us will get it.

Be careful about gloating. There was one kid who smirked at another because the other kid could not understand a word (I think it was “hasty”). Then an iPhone video was shown of the smirking kid some time ago in class, when he was laughed at by the classmates and chewed out by the teacher because he said the American Civil War had been fought over cheese!

This is my favorite cartoon of all time! Was so thrilled to see this strip again. 30 years ago I cut this cartoon out from the newspaper because it was also my experience. Lynn’s strip at the time was exactly duplicating our family’s situation and I could totally relate to what she was writing. I have saved quite a few of her strips over the years because the Patterson Family was so similar to our own. Hard to believe our baby is now 30 years old! Still enjoying your strip, Lynn. Thanks
