He’s still a teenager…a teenager who lives in your house and a teenager who got lost regardless

any of you FBorFW readers ever got lost finding your way back home after first obtaining your driver’s license?

Even though he is almost an adult, he’s still a kid who needs to be literally told and instructed. It’s been said we don’t fully mature until age 25. I disagree. I think it’s 30.

Again, Dad is more concerned about his car than about his child. And don’t tell me that I’m too young to remember the “good ol’ days”. I’m 71 years old. lol

Looks like John’s back is better.

Definitely don’t see a reason to get your undies in a bunch. I hate this kind of thing. Happens a lot on old sitcoms.

He got home safely, no damage to him or the car. That is what is important.

It looks to me like Mike’s face is sinking into that door. Maybe he should step back a bit before he gets stuck.

Of course, tons of times, it is indeed terrifying

Yes, I lived in LA then, yes I knew the street name, but anyone who has lived there knows, Sepulveda Boulevard goes everywhere.

Sometimes moms have to “go to bat” for their kids. I did this several times with my boys’ teachers.

Spent enough time on a bicycle in my home town(relatively small) that I didn’t get lost while driving.

You are legally an adult at age 18… But let’s face it, folks… You’re not considered to be a “real” adult until you hit 30.

So Gordo harmlessly backs the car out of the drive and she freaks out, Micheal goes for a joy ride and she’s fine, I don’t get her sometimes…lol

As a passenger you don’t really pay attention to directions much. That’s why when I got my learners permit my mom had me do all the driving when ever she needed to go anywhere. By the time I had my license I knew routes and several alternates for any place I needed to go.

How did the girls get home?

If he’s “almost an adult” then he’s also entitled to make adult mistakes.

I’m team Dad. It’s okay to be miffed when you kid goes off the reservation. Even if it is an accident. Just make the punishment fit the crime.

Come on! We know you don’t need the freeway to get to the ice rink, Lynn! (hey, she drew the map of the place)

There’s a saying about expecting specific results when you give general instructions.

I love John’s baby fists in Panel 3, that look like they come out of the sides of his stomach.

I don’t see what the big deal is. He took the long way home and got lost. He wasn’t out robbing a gas station or shooting heroin. John needs to chill.

The conversation should involve Michael

Did it ever occur to either of them that maybe he didn’t WANT to come home to all that damned drama??

Couple of time I ended up at a different spot than I planned, but wasn’t lost. Learned how to use a map when I was in middle school. Even though I have a GPS, still prefer to look at a map to get get an orientation of where I am going and the streets around it. BTW, I am a retired AF navigator who flew most of the time without a stinkin GPS. Was darn good at celestial navigation.

I’m with the Prosecution…

For me if I have an appointment and do not know where it is, the day before I will do a test drive to locate the place, and the next day not be lost and know where I am going.

Get Mike a doctor’s stethescope so he doesn’t miss anything.

Look, John, Mike’s a teen driving a sporty car. If he has the choice of the freeway, or the slow, steady back road, which is he going to take. Duhhh.

Not good having a lawyer for a parent.

Very simple solution. Never let him drive the sports car again. Ever.

So, John is feeling better now, apparently. Does he realize it? Thanks Mike.

If Michael had done this in Elly’s car would John still be this upset?

If you are on the Interstate, Turnpike or any highway and you pass your exit, just get off at any exit coming up, make a U-turn to go back the other way to your original exit. So, it’s really hard to get lost.

Listening in on the sly like that has consequences. You might (and probably will) hear something you don’t like.

I didn’t get this kind of lost until I moved from small town Ohio to Detroit after college. Cleveland, Columbus, Akron, Dayton…never a problem. In Detroit, all the roads were laid out in a grid in the city and inner suburbs. Then I had to go to Lansing to sort out some stuff for my professional license and found myself in one way street Hades! Never willing went there again.

I’m not understanding how a person gets lost in the town they grow-up in.

Before GPS, I would get lost almost every time I went to D.C. Growing up, before the beltway, we took my mom to Walter Reed Hosp, then while she was getting her chemo/radiation my dad took me to Zoo, Museums, whatever, so I only knew how to get to them from W.R. Hosp. After she died, I only knew one way to go to Arlington National Cemetery.

When my wife tells me to “get lost” I just go to the bedroom and listen to music and read. I travel to whole new worlds, that way!

Oh heck I still get lost and I have lived in this town over twenty years.
