One of my dogs gained 5lbs during a remodel job a few years ago.
The best was when my gardeners used to buy my dog her own little burrito before they came to my house in the morning.
The absence of noise denotes something too.
The sound of food wakes them out of a dead sleep!

Dogs learn quickly when the humans are available for mooching. ;-)
Our former dog Pepper did exactly that when they were remodeling a house two doors away from ours. The guys said she would come in and inspect the entire place every day—and get some handouts of course.
